Heather Marg Bracken

Heather Marg Bracken is a native of Minneapolis, MN. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in literature, and minors in chemistry and art, from Wheaton College, Illinois. She intended to study medicine, but was dissatisfied with Western medicine’s approach to the body. She pursued her interest in the body, mind, and health through art as well as study and work in the fields of mental health, body therapy, and Eastern body/mind philosophy and practices. She will receive her MFA in sculpture from The University of the Arts in December, 1999, where she studied with Jeanne Jaffe and Barry Parker.

Ms. Bracken has contributed innovative costumes and sets to professional dance and theater performances in Philadelphia and Chicago. At The University of the Arts, she performed in Art for the Body, exhibited the installation Rapunzel, and contributed works to four student shows.

Ms. Bracken lived and worked in Hamburg, Germany from 1994-96, exhibiting and collaborating with German artists, including a performance/installation in “Metamorphosis Aktion” at the Hochschule fuer Bildende Kunst, Braunschweig. She studied with Heinz Breloh at the Pentiment International Akademie fuer Kunst.
